NBA Trade Rumors: 4 Huge New Names To Watch As Trade Candidates

We've all heard the names on the rumor mill thus far this summer and fall... Jimmy Butler, Brandon Ingram, Jonathan Kuminga... But there are some other big names to keep our eye on as potential additions to the trade block as the season moves ahead.

Sam Amick and John Hollinger of The Athletic have proposed four more names to watch as the trade market takes shape:

Austin Reaves, LA Lakers

To this point, the Lakers have been loathe to even consider trading Reaves. But if they're serious about adding a superstar piece to make them true championship contenders this year, they will have to consider putting Reaves on the table.

Jalen Green, Houston Rockets

Yes, he just agreed to a three-year, $106 million extension with the Rockets. But they have been anxious to fast-track their rebuild into serious contender status. To do that and acquire the big piece they need, they could be looking at Jalen Green as a trade piece.

As Amick writes, the Rockets had already "had serious interest in Phoenix’s Devin Booker, New Orleans’ Zion Williamson and Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell" earlier this summer. None of them are available at the moment (Spida also just signed a massive new three-year extension in Cleveland), with the possible exception of Zion, depending on how low the Pelicans sink.

But trading Green will be difficult because of his contract, writes Hollinger.

Keegan Murray, Sacramento Kings

The up-and-coming youngster would be a surprising trade chip, as the Kings already said 'no' to moving him last year when the likes of Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby were available on the trade market. But as Amick notes, "Murray is the only young player in the Kings’ employ who can change the course of a trade conversation." He will certainly be in demand from any team considering sending a superstar-type player to the Kings.

Bennedict Mathurin, Indiana Pacers

The Pacers' exciting young guard saw his minutes reduced last season after the ascension of Andrew Nembhard and the arrival of Pascal Siakam. He didn't appear at all in the playoffs due to injury, and as we saw, Indiana went on a nice run without him. Not that his role in the rotation is in any way in question, but the former No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft could just be the big trade chip the Pacers need in order to bring in a 3rd All-Star to go with Tyrese Haliburton and Siakam.
