4 Trail Blazers Listed As Trade Targets

The Portland Trail Blazers are still knee-deep in a rebuild, and they could be one of the busiest teams as we head into trade season, with the deadline just two months away.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, no less than four notable Blazers could be on the trade block, and teams will have interest in this foursome.

Robert Williams III

Starting with the most likely of the Portlanders to get dealt, the oft-injured rim-protecting big man has one year remaining after this one on a reasonable $13M salary. Teams who are confident he can stay on the court (he's played just seven games this season and only six last year) would have interest, including, but not limited to, the LA Lakers.

Deandre Ayton

Another center on the Trail Blazers roster is more to the taste of teams looking for scoring up front rather than defense. The former No. 1 overall pick is actually posting the worst numbers of his career this season, however, with just 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds. He has one year left after this one on his contract, at $35.5M.

Jerami Grant

Another name that's been tied to the Lakers, Grant is among the most reliable scorers on this list, having topped the 20 PPG mark three times in the previous four seasons. But his contract is more onerous for a team to take on, with three more years to run after the current season, at an average of $34M. Also, the asking price has scared teams off. "Portland has been unwilling to trade Grant without two first-round picks in return, while interested teams have only been willing to consider parting with one first-round pick," writes Scotto.

Anfernee Simons

It was thought that Simons was part of the young core that Portland is building around, but as Scotto notes, "coming off an injury-shortened 2023-24 season and struggling to find his rhythm to start this season, some executives around the league question if Portland will be more willing to part with the 25-year-old guard than in years past."
