Breaking: Pat Riley Makes Definitive Declaration on Jimmy Butler Trade
Jimmy Butler has already indicated that he will opt out of his $52M player option for next season and become an unrestricted free agent. This has led to him being the biggest name on the rumor mill all season long.
Teams like the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns have been tied to a Butler trade, but Miami Heat president Pat Riley has finally gotten fed up with the rumors, and has come out and made a definitive declaration on the future of his superstar forward: Butler isn't going anywhere.

“We usually don’t comment on rumors," said Riley, "but all this speculation has become a distraction to the team and is not fair to the players and coaches. Therefore we will make it clear: We are not trading Jimmy Butler.”
Riley's statement comes hours after Heat coach Erik Spoelstra made his own feelings known about Butler's future:
"We want Jimmy here. There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it," Spoelstra told Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel. "The more any of us talk about it, the more fuel it gets. It’s just really unfortunate that it just continues to build momentum."
That momentum has now come to a grinding halt after Riley's statement.
The Butler drama picked up steam over the Christmas period as a report from insider Shams Charania indicated there has been "escalation" in the situation because Butler had been hoping the Heat would have brought in more help to surround him with this season, but that never came.
Miami is currently in 6th spot in the Eastern Conference, but are just 14-13 and not in the same conversation with the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and even the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks as the teams to beat in the East.
