BREAKING TRADE: Lakers & Nets Complete Major Swap

After plenty of rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers have finally pulled the trigger on a deal, upgrading their perimeter defense in a 4-player trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Lakers send D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second-round picks (2027, 2030 and 2031) to Brooklyn for 3-and-D specialist Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton.

As soon as Russell exercised the $18.7 million option in his contract to remain with the Lakers this season, rumors that the team would move him immediately began, and that's finally come to fruition.

This will be his second stint in Brooklyn, as he became an All-Star for the first time with them back in 2018-19.

Finney-Smith is shooting a career-high 44% from three-point range and averaging 10.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists this season. Milton, a point guard in his seventh NBA season, is averaging 7.4 points and 2.4 assists over 27 games with Brooklyn.
