Devastating Injury to Magic's Mo Wagner

Mo Wagner was having a career year as a prime player off the bench for the Orlando Magic, but after going down with a devastating torn ACL injury on the weekend, Wagner's season is over. His head coach was completely broken up over it.

“It broke me a little bit," said Mosley. "I teared up as I watched Moe go down because you watched the work that he’s put in and you watched the tear he was on. He was in the running in my mind for Sixth Man of the Year.” Wagner was having his best season in 2024-25, averaging career bests with 12.9 PPG, 4.9 RPG, & 1.4 assists while shooting 36% from beyond the arc, all in 18.8 MPG.

It happened on Saturday, when he was driving into the lane against the Miami Heat, and his knee just gave out in a non-contact injury.

His older brother Franz Wagner, also currently out indefinitely due to an oblique injury, could only look on from the bench in disbelief and grief.

The Magic have also had to make do without superstar Paolo Banchero, who went down after just five games with an oblique tear. He is thought to be just about ready to return.

Despite it all, Orlando is still off to a tremendous start to the season, at 18-12, in 4th spot in the Eastern Conference.
