Ja Morant Says He is Done Dunking
One of the most spectacular sights in the NBA over the last few years has been Ja Morant's highlight reel dunks. Looks like we'll have to settle for old videos going forward, as the 25-year-old says he's pretty much done dunking—at least the spectacular kind that he's known for.

Morant says he's prioritizing his health going forward.
“I'm not trying to dunk at all. Y'all think I'm lying. I'm dead serious…Sometimes, I get knocked out the air and (a foul) don't get called, and now I'm out longer than what I'm supposed to be. Sometimes, the foul might get called; I still hit the floor, but after the game you might feel that little fall. So, I just pick and choose, man. Hey, two points is two points. I get it done. That's all that matters."
The high-flying 6'2" guard has only dunked three times in the 12 games he has played this season, while sitting out with injuries 10 games. He missed eight of those with a posterior hip subluxation and associated pelvic strains after... yes, a hard fall on an alley-oop dunk attempt. He landed awkwardly after being bumped midair by Los Angeles Lakers center Christian Koloko.
Morant is averaging 22.0 points and 8.6 assists this season, after playing in only nine games all of last season due to a 25-game suspension and then a torn labrum.
The Grizzlies are off to a nice start in 2024-25, at 14-8, and has no intention of missing any more time. "Man, my focus right now is do what I can with the team and continue to try to get to 100% (healthy)."

If true, the NBA will miss out on some of the most electric moments the sport has to offer
