John Wall Talks Potential NBA Comeback

John Wall hasn't played in an NBA game in two years. But the 34-year-old, who hasn't played a full season in the league since 2016-17 (yes, you read that correctly), is still thinking 'comeback.'

Wall said in an interview that he wants to make his own determination on when to retire, not to be forced out of the game.

"It would mean the world," Wall said, about wanting to play again and determine his own fate. "You want to go out on your own terms. I want to finish it the way I want. If I play my last game, I want to walk off the court my way."

The five-time All-Star hasn't played at all in four of the last six seasons (including this one), and the four times he has suited up in the last eight years were for less than half a season each time.

Wall's last full season was with the Washington Wizards in 2016-17, and his last play in the Association of any kind was a 34-game stint with the LA Clippers in 2022-23.

Heel surgery and a torn Achilles helped derail his career for a lot of that period, as well as his insistence of sitting out the entire 2021-22 season as he waited for a trade from the Houston Rockets, which never materialized.

But despite all that, he still holds career marks of 18.7 points and 8.9 assists.

Although Wall is still targeting a return to the NBA, there is no word of any teams being interested in giving him a shot.
