NBA Trade Rumors: Dorian Finney-Smith Lands in Memphis in Proposed Deal
As reported by Marc Stein in his latest rumor drop, the Memphis Grizzlies are "a team to watch" in the Dorian Finney-Smith sweepstakes, as the Brooklyn Nets are almost certainly going to be dealing the much sought-after 3-and-D man.
Stein can even see a particular trade forming, due to the Nets' interest in Memphis swingman John Konchar.
The trade could look like this, per Stein:
Memphis Grizzlies Receive:
- Dorian Finney-Smith
Brooklyn Nets Receive:
- John Konchar
- Luke Kennard
"The Nets, league sources say, are likewise interested in Memphis' John Konchar, who has also attracted interest from Orlando and Miami and is emerging as a name that must be monitored as the Feb. 6 trade deadline approaches," writes Stein.
Konchar is earning a reasonable $6.16M in the first of a three-year, $18.5 million contract, and "is perceived as available". Kennard's $9.25 million expiring salary would need to be added in order to salary-match and make the trade legal, as Finney-Smith earns $14.9M and has another year to run on his deal.

But, Stein cautions, Kennard must okay the trade first, due to his status as a 'One-Year Bird' player.
Finney-Smith will have plenty of suitors, as he's shooting a career-high 45.2% from three-point range, averaging 10.8 points a game, just a shade under his personal best of 11.0.
