NBA Trade Rumors: Valanciunas Would Land with LA Lakers in Proposed Offer

The LA Lakers got off to a nice start to the season, and found themselves in 3rd spot in the Western Conference at 10-4 as recently as two weeks ago. They've gone 2-5 since then and have slid to 8th place. They know they need some upgrades, including a true center who can take on a fair workload, and they've been linked to Jonas Valaciunas going all the way back to the summer.

The Washington Wizards signed JV as a free agent for three years, but it's expected they'll be using him as a trade asset sometime after he becomes eligible to be dealt on Dec. 15th.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype has proposed the following as an offer that the Lakers could use to get their "coveted target" Valanciunas to Hollywood:

LA Lakers Receive:

  • Jonas Valaciunas

Washington Wizards Receive:

  • Gabe Vincent
  • Multiple second-round picks

The Lakers get the center they need to allow Anthony Davis to slide over to the 'four' more often, while providing them with a bit more beef down low.
It doesn't address their need to improve their outside shooting, but, hey, one step at a time.

On the Wizards' side of this hypothetical deal, Vincent gets a fresh start, as it simply hasn't worked out for him in LA after signing his three-year, $33 million free agent deal. Injuries have played a major role, and when he has played, his shooting has been dreadful. He's only getting 17 minutes of floor time with the Lakers, whereas he'd been a decent contributor when he was getting 25 minutes a night with the Miami Heat. He should be able to get that again in D.C.

The second-round picks will help the Wizards build for the future.
