Fan Favorite Isaiah Thomas Signs Contract In Latest Comeback Bid

It's been a minute since fan favorite and former All-Star Isaiah Thomas has played in the NBA. But the soon-to-be 36 year-old is making yet another comeback attempt, this time signing a contract with the Utah Jazz G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.

Thomas last played in an NBA game last April, when he got into six contests for the Phoenix Suns, after averaging 33 points in four G League games. But with Phoenix, he played a total of just 19 minutes over the entirety of his six games.

I.T. went unsigned in the 2022-23 season, and played just 22 games in 2021-22, averaging 15 minutes a night for three different teams, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Charlotte Hornets.

The 5-foot-9 Thomas became an instant fan favorite all over the league after he averaged 20 points through his first six seasons, including a Top-5 MVP finish in 2016-17 when he averaged 29 points a game for the Boston Celtics. He was a two-time All-Star in Beantown.

After that, however, hip problems derailed his NBA career, and he was never the same. He's tried numerous comebacks, and has played for 10 different franchises. He'll try to give it one more shot in the Utah organization.
