Trade: Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz Pull Off Deal
The first shoe has dropped for the Phoenix Suns, as they've completed an "aggressive" multi-asset trade with the Utah Jazz.
The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 unprotected first to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in 2025 of Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah.

The Suns are sending their 2031 unprotected first to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks.
Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reports that this is only the start for Phoenix. "More deals incoming," he writes.
Is it all part of a continued attempt to somehow land land Jimmy Butler?
This is an aggressive move for Phoenix and unlocks the franchise's next six drafts -- and most importantly, breaks up their lone tradable first in 2031 into three future firsts. The Suns now have tripled their first-rounders. https://t.co/kd8gmaegTi

Long story short: Jimmy Butler's days in Miami are numbered.

After the Suns' deal with the Jazz, it would be shocking if Butler isn't on their roster by the trade deadline.
For the Jazz, Tim MacMahon of ESPN notes that "the rebuilding Jazz, who already have college-aged players filling half the roster, give up some quantity for a swing at lottery quality."
