Breaking: Kevin Durant To Be Held Out Of Suns Game, Trade Watch is On

Here we go. Kevin Durant is being held out of the Phoenix Suns game tomorrow (Wednesday) night, less than 20 hours before Thursday's NBA trade deadline. They say it's a sprained ankle, but we'll call it the KD Trade Sweepstakes officially getting underway.

And while the Golden State Warriors have been said to be extremely interested in re-acquiring Durant, we're now hearing that the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets are hot in pursuit as well.

The Durant availability hinges on them not being able to swing a deal with the Miami Heat for Jimmy Butler, which does seem very unlikely due to the fact that Bradley Beal with his $50M contract is refusing to waive his no-trade clause.

The Mavericks, of course, have re-made their team in recent days with the trade of Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis. Acquiring a dynamic scorer like KD would certainly make up for the loss of Doncic.

As for the Rockets, they have been reluctant to tear their roster up with any kind of huge move, as they currently stand third in the Western Conference at 32-17.

The Warriors, however, still seem to be the leading contender to land Durant if he is indeed traded. KD spent three seasons with Golden State from 2016 through 2019, winning two championships before leaving in free agency to join Brooklyn.
