Trading Wiseman gives Indiana flexibility below the tax, and an open roster spot. He's out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Injuries have been a common theme for the big man in his five-year NBA career.
The 7-footer played just 39 games in his rookie season with the Golden State Warriors, then missed his entire sophomore season in 2021-22 season with a torn right meniscus.
He was traded the following year and showed some promise with Detroit in a 24-game trial at the end of the 2022-23 season, posting 12.7 points per game and 8.1 rebounds in 25 minutes per night.
But he couldn't repeat that performance the following year with the Pistons, as he averaged just seven points and 5.3 boards in 63 games, playing 17 minutes a night.
He couldn't even make it through one quarter this season with the Pacers, tearing his Achilles after attempting a three-point shot.
Wiseman is earning $2.2M this year, and has a team option at $2.6M for next season.
For the Raptors, they'll get a look at him at some point next season before deciding if he's worth holding onto.
