Dallas Mavericks Sign 7'2" Center, Six-Year Veteran

With their entire big man rotation out of the mix due to injuries, the Dallas Mavericks were desperate to add a center, and they've done so on Wednesday, with the signing of 7-foot-2 Moses Brown to a 10-day contract after a workout for the team earlier in the day.

With their big trade acquisition Anthony Davis out of the mix for about a month (after less than one game with the team), as well as Dwight Powell, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II also expected out for an "extended time", the Mavericks needed to strike quickly.

This will be Brown's second stint with the Mavs, as he played in 26 games with the team in 2021-22. He's played a total of 159 NBA games over six seasons, including some time as well with the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets. His most productive stint was with OKC back in 2020-21, when he played over 21 minutes a game, and averaged an impressive 8.9 boards along with 8.6 points.

Overall, his per-36 minutes numbers across his career have been impressive, averaging 15.9 points, 15.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots. He's likely to get some serious minutes in Dallas with the dearth of healthy big men.

The 25-year-old played nine games earlier this season with the Indiana Pacers with very little action, but has been a beast in the G League this year, averaging 15.6 points, 14.9 rebounds and about a block per game for the Westchester Knicks.

Brown went undrafted out of UCLA in 2019.
