Durant's "Last Act" in Phoenix: “They’re gonna trade him, and he knows that"
The Phoenix Suns hired a championship-winning coach for this season in Mike Budenholzer, then bolted out of the gate at 8-1. They are 19-30 since, are four games under .500 at 27-31, 2.5 games out of a Play-In spot. There are now, pretty much officially, just 24 games left in the Kevin Durant era in Phoenix.
So says plugged-in insider Brian Windhorst on ESPN today, calling the balance of this season KD's "last act" in the desert:
The Suns and Kevin Durant both know their relationship will be coming to an end this offseason, per @WindhorstESPN.

“They’re gonna trade him, and he knows that... He has been very professional about that," said Windhorst.
"I think he's handled this very appropriately... KD is setting himself up for his last act. I think everybody's intentions are crystal clear here."
Durant was nearly traded at the deadline a few weeks back, to the team where he won two championships, the Golden State Warriors. But he wasn't interested in going back there, and blocked the trade. For the Dubs, they're probably thrilled that KD made that decision, as they're 6-1 since acquiring Jimmy Butler instead, and have become a real threat in the West once again.
The Suns? They're 2-6 since the trade deadline, and currently have a 0.8% chance to reach the playoffs.
Durant, however, still feels he made the right decision putting the kibosh on the Warriors trade. He told his former Dubs teammate Draymond Green that himself, that it "didn't make sense."
"We can play the season out and if that's the decision you want to make in the off-season then we figure it out.”

It sounds like he'd be willing to revisit a potential Golden State return in the summer, however. "We can play the season out and if that's the decision you want to make in the off-season then we figure it out.”
