Frontrunner Named To Sign Free Agent Victor Oladipo in Comeback Attempt
A former two-time All-Star, Victor Oladipo hasn't played in the NBA for two years, but he said this week that we have not seen the last of him, and he is attempting a comeback. He's currently rehabbing from his third surgery, a torn patellar tendon in his left knee.
I’m not going out the way you guys last seen me playing. I plan on retiring on 10 toes.
I’ve been seeing that (retirement talk) around town, people kind of questioning that. But if you ain’t heard that from the horse’s mouth, don’t believe it. I’m not retiring. I got a ton left in the tank... I'm training, rehabbing, every day.
Now that that's out of the way, where will Oladipo land? According to the betting odds, the New York Knicks are the favorites to sign him.

New York Knicks (-125)
Orlando Magic (+400)
Boston Celtics (+500)
Oklahoma City Thunder (+600)
Cleveland Cavaliers (+600) https://t.co/oIdFZYSTTh pic.twitter.com/KPzuHhcz3W
Per Bovada, the Knicks top the list at -125 odds. The Orlando Magic, who drafted Dipo with the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and where he spent his first three seasons, are the second-faves, but far behind, at +400. They're followed by the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
After his two All-Star seasons with the Indiana Pacers in 2018 and 2019, injuries began to derail his career in the second of those seasons, and he hasn't been the same player since.
He last appeared with the Miami Heat in 2022, playing 42 games and averaging 10.7 points.
As for the Knicks, they already have a pretty solid backcourt, with Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, backed up off the bench by Cameron Payne, Miles McBride and Landry Shamet.
In his 10-year career, Oladipo sports averages of 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 34.7% from three-point range in 504 NBA games.
