Report: Jimmy Butler Has Blocked Multiple Trades, "Triple Miracle" Needed
NBA insider Brian Windhorst has revealed that Jimmy Butler has blocked multiple trades in the Miami Heat's effort to rid themselves of the disgruntled and suspended star forward.
He has torched his relationship with the Heat and hurt the team's season. He has also blocked trade options that would be good fits, where he could have potentially gotten paid and been on a contender.
Instead, Butler remains "bizarrely" obsessed with getting to the Phoenix Suns, says Windhorst. And while there aren't many other teams who are interested in him, the ones that are have been told that he'll only sign an extension with Phoenix.
"There isn't a lot of interest in acquiring Butler," adds Tim Bontemps. "The few options he has had outside of Phoenix have been told he isn't interested in being there."
But a deal with the Suns has a serious roadblock in that, so far, Bradley Beal is refusing to take his $50M salary and waive his no-trade clause to leave Phoenix.
"That hasn't stopped the Suns from trying everything they can to pull off a triple miracle of finding a home for Beal and his unwieldy contract, getting Beal to accept going to that place with his no-trade clause, and getting assets in return that can entice the Heat to send Butler. They have and are trying three/four/five-team deals to make that sea part," said Windhorst.
Time is running short to pull off that "triple miracle". The deadline is 3pm ET on Thursday.
