San Antonio Spurs Give Veteran Big Man Another Contract After Wemby News
The San Antonio Spurs cannot ever make up for the loss of Victor Wembanyama for the rest of the season, but they still needed to do something to fill his roster spot, and for now, 14-year veteran Bismack Biyombo is the man.
After having played just 25 seconds all season, he started in Wemby's place on Thursday, and did enough that the Spurs have signed him to a second 10-day contract on Friday.

Biyombo had eight points, three boards and two assists in his first start, playing 16 minutes. No, not Wemby numbers, but Biz has been around the league, and can be a body the Spurs can use.
It isn't quite what De'Aaron Fox signed up for, however, when he asked for a trade from the Sacramento Kings earlier this month, with Wemby and the Spurs his first choice of destination.
The 32-year-old Biyombo played in 40 games last season for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 20 minutes a game, 4.4 points and 5.2 rebounds.
He's also suited up over the course of his career with Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies. In 841 games (352 starts), he holds career averages of 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 19.5 minutes per game.
Wembanyama was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in his shoulder, and will miss the remainder of the season. The 2023 No. 1 pick, and top young player in the game is expected to make a full recovery from the serious medical condition and return next season.
