Top 3 Buyout Market Targets for NY Knicks

The New York Knicks have won 9 of their last 11 games to solidify their 3rd seed ranking in the Eastern Conference. They pretty much stood pat at the trade deadline, but that doesn't mean they aren't still trying to tweak the roster. The Buy Out Market is an avenue to do so.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Post has suggested the most likely potential buyout candidates that the Knicks will be targeting:

PJ Tucker

The 6'5" swingman is once again a Toronto Raptor. For the third time. But he won't be putting a dino uniform on. It was just part of a series of deadline transactions that saw the 39-year-old traded three times in five days.

Yes, the Knicks could use a 3-and-D forward, but Tucker hasn't played in over a year, after sitting most of last season at the end of the LA Clippers bench, and then staying away from the team altogether this year. He certainly does seem like a Tom Thibodeau kind of player, but that might have been in another time, in another galaxy.

TJ Warren

He's actually been under the Knicks' noses all season long, tearing it up for the G League's Westchester team, averaging 26 points per game while shooting 38% from distance. He can definitely fill it up, but can he stay healthy? If the Knicks were to sign him, he'd be joining his old teammate from Minnesota, Karl-Anthony Towns.

Josh Richardson

The Utah Jazz waived J-Rich after being awarded his contract in the four-team Jimmy Butler trade that sent the Miami Heat star to the Golden State Warriors. Richardson isn't anywhere near the strong 3-and-D player he once was, and the 31-year-old has dealt with back issues all season. But it could be worth taking a chance on him on a minimum contract.
