Big Development for Anthony Davis and The Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are apparently not giving up on the season just yet. While many observers felt that after the Kyrie Irving season-ending ACL tear (and even before it), they'd just shut down Anthony Davis for the year, it now appears he hopes to be back soon. AD has been sent to the Mavericks' G League team for some game conditioning.

Davis suffered an adductor strain in his very first game for Dallas, playing 31 minutes and having a monster game with 26 points, 16 rebounds and three blocked shots. But he did the AD thing—went down to injury—and has spent the past 17 games in street clothes. The Mavs are 5-12 in those games, 1-6 since Kyrie went down as well.

Dallas has lost 10 of their last 12 games to plummet to 10th spot in the Western Conference, just 1.5 games up on the equally inept Phoenix Suns for the final Play-In berth.

But despite all that, Davis wants to return to the court this season. He'll practice with the G League's Texas Legends, and decisions will have to be made.

The Mavs have 13 games left in the regular season.

Davis was sent to the Mavericks last month in the most shocking trade perhaps in NBA history, when Dallas dealt superstar Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers. The Purple & Gold are 9-5 with Doncic in the lineup.
