Breaking: Free Agent PJ Tucker Lands With Eastern Conference Contender
PJ Tucker has bounced around between several contenders in the Eastern Conference over the last several years, from a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021, to a Conference Finals with the Miami Heat in 2022, then to the Philadelphia 76ers in '23.
Now, after being waived by the Toronto Raptors following a series of trades at the deadline, the long-dormant Tucker is bringing his tough leadership style to the New York Knicks, on a 10-day contract.

Tucker, who turns 40 in two months, has spent most of the last two seasons out of action with the LA Clippers. First, spending months in the second half of last season as a healthy scratch, then agreeing to stay away from the Clippers team this season altogether while they tried to find a trade, which only culminated at last month's deadline. He has yet to play, but now will join the Knicks.
"My opinion…PJ Tucker…I think he would be a good presence in this Knick locker room…They could use a voice that commands everyone's respect & attention, and PJ Tucker, 13-year vet, NBA champ, certainly is that"

As Knicks insider Ian Begley noted this week, "I think he would be a good presence in this Knick locker room…They could use a voice that commands everyone's respect & attention, and PJ Tucker, 13-year vet, NBA champ, certainly is that."
The 13-year NBA veteran held discussions with multiple teams over the last week, per Shams Charania, but felt that Tom Thibodeau's style would be the perfect fit for him in his 14th season.
Tucker has averaged 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds over the course of his career, while shooting 36.6% from three-point land, most notably the corner-3.
