NBA Trade Rumors: Paul George Lands With Miami Heat In Proposed Trade

The word is out. The Philadelphia 76ers have had enough of Paul George after just one disastrous season, They'll be looking to deal the nine-time All-Star and his massive contract this summer. And we've got our eyes on one team that recently lost a big star who could be looking to try another one on for size.

'Three Cone' of Bleacher Report has offered up the following hypothetical trade package that would send PG to Pat Riley and the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat receive:

  • Paul George
  • 1st round pick (protected)

Philadelphia 76ers receive:
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Terry Rozier

Why would the Heat do it:

Pat Riley likes his star power, and after losing Jimmy Butler in the deadline deal with the Golden State Warriors, he needs to fill that star void.

"Pat Riley has shown a very big aversion to rebuilding in the past," said Three Cone. "They want to continue to re-tool and bring in more talent...

"I know Paul George had a bad year, (but) I don't think he's going to be as bad next season as he was this year."

And just in case PG really flames out again, the Heat do get a first-rounder to help ease the pain.

Why would Philly do it:

Wiggins isn't making the monster money that PG is owed over the next four seasons. He has just two years left at a $29M AAV, compared to George, who still has three years and $160 million coming to him on his albatross of a contract ($53+ million AAV).

Besides, "Wiggins could be pretty good on this Sixers team," opines Three Cone. "He gives them athleticism, some quickness, can knock down some outside shots, he can rebound, he can defend, do a little bit of everything. You don't need someone to do a ton next to Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jared McCain."

And Rozier is an expiring contract next year ($26.6M) that they could use as salary filler in a trade.

The Sixers will be looking for takers for Paul George this summer, and this proposition could be something for these teams to think about.
