Report: Paul George's Days In Philly Coming To An End

The Paul George-Philadelphia 76ers honeymoon is quickly turning into a divorce. After just one dreadful season of a four-year, $211 million contract, PG's time in Philly may be coming to a quick and messy end. According to a report, the Sixers will attempt to trade George this summer.

"The Philadelphia 76ers will try to trade small forward Paul George this summer, an NBA source told Hoops Wire," writes Ashish Mather. "Some members of the Sixers wanted George traded at the NBA trade deadline, a league source told Hoops Wire.

George, in fact, may never play another game for the Sixers if a trade comes to fruition, as he's currently consulting with doctors this week on treatment options for his groin and knee injuries, including possible surgery, reports Shams Charania. A decision is expected early next week.

The Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks were teams that were interested in dealing for George at the trade deadline last month. However, since then, the Dubs have acquired Jimmy Butler and have been on a heater with him, likely leaving them with zero interest in PG at this point, with his albatross contract.

The nine-time All-Star's time in Philadelphia consists of a grand total of 41 games, a 13-year low 16.2 points per game, and a 15-26 record for the Sixers in games that he played. How does that $211 million contract look now?

With three years and $160 million remaining, he's now challenging Bradley Beal for the worst contract in the NBA.

Overall, Philly is tied for the 5th worst record in the league this season at 22-43, losers of 14 of their last 16 games.
