NBA Insiders: Huge Ja Morant Development Could Be Coming in Memphis This Summer
The dramatic change in Memphis last week could lead to much more drama this summer. The firing of head coach Taylor Jenkins — the only coach that superstar Ja Morant has ever played for, could lead to Morant wanting out.
Morant "was on Team Taylor" right until the end, said insider Sam Amick, and isn't happy about the playing style that's been instituted this season, and Tuomas Iisalo who is now the interim head coach, will reportedly lean even more into it. Despite back-to-back 30-point games this week, Ja's touches, and even his minutes are down this season, as is his scoring (down to 22.9 ppg, from the 25-27 ppg range in recent season).
"Morant has not been happy in this new pace and space offense," said insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Now as we go through the playoffs in the post-Jenkins era, "What does the Memphis offense (continue to) look like?" asks Fischer. "Could that potentially end up in a situation where Ja Morant joins Kevin Durant on the trade market this summer?"
Fellow insider Sam Amick echoed the same sentiments on the Run It Back podcast, saying we might have another De'Aaron Fox situation on our hands, and how the differences he had with the Sacramento Kings led to him leaving town in a deadline trade.

"(Ja) was not enjoying his role (in the new Memphis offense this season), and now that they're leaning even farther into it seemingly, seems a little precarious," said Amick.
"It's a very interesting time to monitor the Memphis Grizzlies," concludes Fischer.
