NBA News: League Deals With Ja Morant Over 'Finger-Gun' Incident

Ja Morant has a history of gun-related incidents, leading to two suspensions from the NBA including one that led to a whopping 25-game ban in the 2023-24 season. So it's not surprising that some people are getting... up in arms, so to speak, after seeing Morant clearly make a finger-gun gesture at the opponents' bench in a game this week. Calls for another suspension had been heard.

The NBA has not handed down any discipline this time, however, except to issue a stern warning to both Morant and Buddy Hield, who responded in kind, during the Memphis Grizzlies' 134-125 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The league ruled that the celebrations were not intended to be violent in nature, but were inappropriate and should be refrained from.

Warriors superstar Steph Curry, for one, was not amused at Morant's actions, appearing to be in disbelief.

Morant was first suspended for eight games for a gun-related incident in 2023, after flashing a gun during an Instagram live video. After serving that suspension, just two months later, he was at it again, as the young Grizzlies superstar flashed a gun in yet another Instagram live video. This time, the NBA issued a 25-game suspension.

This season, Morant has been 'firearm free', though this latest finger-gun incident reminds everyone of the troubles he's had with the issue.
