NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Atlanta Hawks Who Won't Return in 2025-26

The Atlanta Hawks, after a season two games below .500 and a quick exit in the Play-In, could be looking at some substantial changes this offseason.

Will Trae Young be sticking around? Will head coach Quinn Snyder be back calling the Xs and Os?

Let's have a look at three players who are unlikely to return next season, though for now, let's leave Trae out of this, and that's a whole other discussion altogether.

Caris LeVert

The Cleveland Cavaliers moved on from LeVert at the trade deadline for a reason, and while the pending free agent provided a nice boost off the bench for the Hawks, will they really get into a bidding war on the free agent market to bring him back? According to Nick Halden of ATL All Day, LeVert's $16.6 million should be put towards finding a true No. 2 scorer—that is, if Trae is still around as the No. 1 scorer.

"Whether it is going all in on Trae Young and making a push to contend, or trading the point guard and resetting to their young core, LeVert doesn't fit either timeline," wrote Halden.

Clint Capela

Now when have we heard his name on the rumor mill before? Pretty much every day for the last year or more, to be honest. Now, with 24-year-old big man Onyeka Okongwu really starting to emerge as an exciting young force, we can certainly expect the soon-to-be 31-year-old Capela to finally be an ex-Hawk.

His numbers and minutes took a big decline this season, and as a free agent, it's highly unlikely Atlanta will look to keep him.

Garrison Mathews

The 28-year-old shooting guard was out of the rotation by season's end, and according to Bradley Rowland in Fansided, as a free agent, the Hawks are not likely to bring him back. He did his job, however, when he was on the court, shooting 39% from three-point range. But the fact that Mathews wasn't able to earn more time "in a season in which Kobe Bufkin was sidelined for the year and the Hawks moved on from both De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic in-season," says all you need to know about where they're going with Mathews.
