NBA Trade Rumors: Zach LaVine Could Move To Miami In Off-season Shakeup
The Sacramento Kings’ season came to an early end with a loss in the Play-In Tournament, prompting the franchise to part ways with general manager Monte McNair. After years of middling results, the Kings may need to make bold moves this offseason to break free from stagnation.
Their midseason trade for Zach LaVine failed to push them over the top, and now, dealing him away just months after acquiring him could be the necessary reset.
When Sacramento traded De’Aaron Fox, they didn’t secure a significant draft pick return because they prioritized an All-Star-caliber replacement in LaVine. However, history has shown that pairing LaVine with DeMar DeRozan doesn’t translate to championship success.
If the Kings’ new front office decides to pivot, recouping draft assets by trading LaVine might be the best path forward. One potential trade partner? The Miami Heat.
Proposed Trade:
- Heat receive: Zach LaVine
- Kings receive: Andrew Wiggins, Duncan Robinson, 2025 first-round pick (via Warriors)
LaVine revitalized his value this season, averaging 23.3 points per game on a career-best 51.1% shooting. After being viewed as nearly untradeable due to injuries and his hefty contract, his strong play made him a viable trade piece—leading to his move to Sacramento.
But with the Kings far from title contention, a full rebuild might be the smarter approach. LaVine’s contract (three years, over $44 million annually) limits his trade return, yet Miami could be an ideal fit.
The Heat, now without Jimmy Butler, need a third star, and LaVine’s elite scoring—both from deep and at the rim—would fill a major void.
This deal would also help Miami shed Duncan Robinson’s overpriced contract. While Robinson’s shooting would be a loss, LaVine is just as dangerous from three and brings far more versatility.
For the Kings, acquiring Wiggins, Robinson, and a future first-rounder could kickstart a much-needed retooling process.
