NBA Trade Rumors: "Mutual Interest" Between Kevin Durant & 5 NBA Teams

Insider Shams Charania has confirmed that the Phoenix Suns will be making an effort to trade Kevin Durant this summer. And "unlike at the trade deadline", he says, the two sides will be working together to try to get a deal done. He also names five teams that would be the main suitors, and that there is "mutual interest" between each of them and KD.

Charania names the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves as the potential landing spots for Durant. "I'm told there was mutual interest between Durant and those teams," said Charania.

"Who out there in the NBA believes they're a Kevin Durant away? I think the playoffs are going to play a big factor in which teams get eliminated early, which team feels like if they bring in a KD they could be a step away?"

Durant has one year left on his deal, at $54.7 million.

The Golden State Warriors are notably not part of that five-team group of interested parties. They were  at the deadline, but Durant turned them down and went out and got Jimmy Butler instead. The Dubs have been on an absolute tear with Butler in tow, and Durant's chance to head back there is long gone.

The so-called 'Big 3' of KD, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal simply has not worked out in Phoenix, as the Suns sit at 35-41 in 11th spot in the Western Conference, two games back in the loss column of the Play-In tournament. The urgency to try to slip into the postseason certainly doesn't seem to be there, as they currently ride a four-game losing streak, with just six games to play.
