Warriors News: Jimmy Butler's Updated Status Puts Him in Doubt For Game 3
As the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets get set to resume their series on Saturday, the Dubs get word on Jimmy Butler's MRI results, and his updated status leaves him in doubt for Game 3.
Butler has been diagnosed with a deep glute muscle contusion and his status for Game 3, says insider Shams Charania, "is in serious jeopardy."
Golden State's Jimmy Butler has been diagnosed with a deep glute muscle contusion and his status for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets is in serious jeopardy, league sources tell ESPN. This is best case because MRI showed Butler avoided any fracture or structural damage. pic.twitter.com/nTEjv4QKp7

Nevertheless, the MRO did not show any structural damage of fracture, so this is certainly considered a best-case scenario for Butler and Golden State.
In addition, while Charania says Butler's status for Game 3 is in "serious jeopardy", fellow NBA insider Chris Haynes had a different take, saying that Butler is expected to be considered "questionable" for Saturday's game and that the injury "can be managed."
The incident occurred when the Rockets' Amen Thompson went tumbling hard into Butler as the Warriors star was jumping for a rebound. Butler was upended and landed with a thud, hard on his backside.
Many Golden State fans, naturally, are calling the Thompson play dirty, saying he 'undercut' the Dubs' forward.
The Warriors are 25-8 with Butler since acquiring him in a trade from the Miami Heat, so missing him for any length of time in a tight 1-1 series will be a problem.
